president park geun-hye has arrived in davos on tuesday to attend this year's world economic
forum. ahead of the official opening of the forum
president park spent a busy day meeting with business leaders from around the world to
urge them to invest more in korea. our presidential office correspondent eoh
jin-joo has the details. promoting korea to the world's business leaders was the name
of the game for president park... on the eve of the world economic forum in davos.
upon her arrival in the swiss city on tuesday afternoon... president park met with cisco
ceo john chambers and discussed ways to cooperate in the sector of internet of everything.
internet of everything is a rising industry that aims at connecting objects in homes office
s cars and elsewhere to the internet... so they automatically adjust to the people's
needs and preferences. president park asked cisco to actively invest
in korea and closely work with korean firms to help the nation realize her vision of a
so-called creative economy. chambers said cisco's joint project with the british government
to develop the european country's high-tech industry is very similar to president park
's push for the creative economy. he then said he would be very happy to expand cooperation
with korean institutions and companies in the sector.
the president also took part in korea night an event dedicated to promoting korean culture
and technology which has been held in davos for six straight years now.
it also serves as an opportunity to network with global figures that attend the wef.
among those in attendance were lloyd's chairman john nelson and jacob frenkel chairman of
jpmorgan chase international. president park called for further investment
in korea emphasizing that korea is becoming a better environment for foreign business
es with the korean parliament having passed a bill on the revised act of foreign investment
promotion.
